The Mercayle Artist Aid Fund

At Mercayle Gallery, we believe that true sustainability for creators goes beyond individual sales. The Artist Aid Fund is our dedicated, community-backed mutual-aid ecosystem designed to redistribute gallery resources directly back into the hands of our roster.

How the Fund is Structured & Built

The Artist Aid Fund is a foundational pillar of our ecosystem, established before our official public launch to ensure our community has immediate backing:

The Launch Foundation: To ensure the fund was healthy from the start, our treasury was built through a direct combination of upfront founder capital investments, foundational artist annual fees, and early collector membership sales.

Pre-Launch Treasury Status: Thanks to this initial backing, our mutual-aid pool currently holds over $5,000 completely cleared, secured, and allocated for our upcoming inaugural distribution cycle.

The 10% Reinvestment Model (Post-Launch): Once our public marketplace goes live, the fund will become entirely self-sustaining. As part of our transparent 55/35/10 structural split, every single artwork transaction processed on our platform routes a 10% allocation away from gallery profit margins and drops it straight into the mutual-aid treasury to continuously replenish the pool.

Grant Types & Allocation Pathways

The treasury is structured to address both the professional growth and unexpected emergencies that come with managing an independent creative practice.

Independent Studio Grants

These allocations are designed to fund the tangible costs of career advancement. Artists can request funding for:Specialized raw materials or heavy equipment (e.g., kilns, welding tools, framing machinery).Subsidizing independent residency fees and travel logistics.Professional studio photography or fabrication assistance for major solo projects.

Emergency Creator Relief

Life happens outside the studio. A portion of the fund is held in reserve year-round for immediate, no-strings-attached mutual aid during unexpected hardships, such as:

Sudden medical expenses or health emergencies.

Studio displacement due to extreme weather, fires, or sudden lease terminations.

Urgent economic relief during critical gaps in studio production.
